New Orleans, La. – Hunter testified about what he says happened after driving a rental truck carrying officers to the bridge. The officers say they were responding to reports of shots fired at police. Hunter says although he didn't perceive a threat, he fired his handgun into the air as a message of "Don't mess with us." Hunter says other officers opened fire indiscriminately, and one stomped on a mentally disabled man shot in the back by another officer. When the shooting stopped, two people were dead and four wounded. Hunter is one of five former officers who pleaded guilty to participating in a cover-up. He's serving an eight-year sentence.
