Dunn leads workshop in singing "I Can Learn"

Area students are encouraged to pursue their education in a local workshop called "My Mind Is A Pearl."

The program was created by local educatorCleoriaDunn.  "These sessions host resource fairs and activities to build confidence in students," says Dunn.

She arrived at the idea from her own experience.  "I wanted my children to be successful, and I knew I had to lead by example.  I decided to quit my state job and go back to college and get my degree."

Dunn has taught in public schools for 18 years.  She says the workshop allows for students and parents to become familiar with resources such as the parish library system and local health programs.

A workshop at Barkdull Faulk Elementary in Monroe is Saturday.  Free school supplies are given to students who attend the session.
