Dramatic Last-Moment Field Goal Seals Saints Victory Over Tampa Bay, 16-14

Garrett Hartley’s game-clinching 27-yard field goal with five seconds left capped a wild Sunday night in Tampa Bay and sent the New Orleans Saints home with a win over the Buccaneers, 16-14.

It took the Saints just over a minute to drive 54 yards back down the field, after Tampa Bay’s own missed field goal, to set Hartley up to make the kick. The team was down by one, thanks to an earlier missed kick, and the points they gave back trying and failing to score a one-yard touchdown with just seconds to go in the first half.

If all that wasn’t enough, the Saints offensive line couldn’t keep the heat off Drew Brees, who was sacked three times for 21 yards. They could be excused for being tired — an hour-and-nine-minute weather delay dragged the game out to four-and-a-half hours.

The Saints will host the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday in the Superdome. The game starts at noon.
