Dalai Lama Coming To New Orleans

Tulane University

The Dalai Lama is coming to New Orleans to deliver the keynote address at the Tulane University graduation ceremony, May 18 at the Superdome.

The Dalai Lama, who is the spiritual leader of Tibet, will  also participate in a conference sponsored by the Tulane School of Social Work, called “Resilience: Strength Through Compassion and Connection” held May 16 through 18 at the Convention Center.

The public will have access to two appearances by the Dalai Lama. The first is an address May 17 at the Convention Center called “Strength Through Compassion.” The second talk is called “Strength Through Connection,” which will be May 18 at the University of New Orleans Lakefront Arena.

Buddhist monks will create a sand sculpture at the Convention Center. The public is invited to watch its creation, and later watch as they place the sand in the Mississippi River. Tickets will be on sale through DalaiLamaNOLA.com. Proceeds will offset the cost of the visit and benefit a nonprofit to be selected with the Office of Tibet.
