Jazz trumpeter Edward Anderson is the co-founder of Creole Connections.

We use the word Creole a lot in New Orleans, to define everything from gumbo to architecture. But the Creole culture has roots not only here, but also around the world. To learn more, NolaVie's Renée Peck invites Dr. Edward Anderson, jazz trumpeter and educator, and Barbara Trevigne, Creole historian and artist, into the studio to describe a new project called Creole Connections that will trace our ties to Brazil.

Renee Peck, editor of NolaVie, worked for 32 years as a feature editor and writer at The Times-Picayune, earning Associated Press and Press Club of New Orleans awards along the way. She helped launch the first Times-Picayune website in the 1990s, when the Internet was in its infancy.
