The New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board has been under fire since the city’s pumping system failed and caused major flooding in August.
Now the agency is being criticized for accounting problems, such as over-charging customers for water bills. Meanwhile, there’s a new management board in place, and the pumps are still being repaired. There are a lot of ideas for how to fix these issues, and many of them were addressed at a panel Thursday night at Loyola University. For this week’s coastal news roundup, coastal reporters Tegan Wendland and Travis Lux offer a summary.
