Bring Your Own is a nomadic storytelling series that takes place in living rooms, backyards and other intimate spaces within the community. Each month, seven storytellers have 7 minutes to respond to a theme. BYO airs on All Things New Orleans and is a biweekly podcast on wwno.org.

This story was told at Fortier Park on September 19, 2013. The theme of the evening was "Thrown", and Jim Asher told of an almost brutal physical altercation while covering the longshoremen unions in Philadelphia during the 1980ss.

Bring Your Own is brought to you by Liam Daniel Pierce, Laine Kaplan-Levenson and Nina Feldman. Save the date for the first ever BYO Fundraiser, to be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Aquarium Gallery. For details go to bringyourownstories.com.
