New Orleans, La. – Kenneth Feinberg says claims will now be considered that are submitted from areas not directly impacted by oil. He says the process is fluid and he's making changes as issues are brought to his attention.
"I am listening. I am willing to make mid-course corrections based on input from the very people I'm trying to help." :09
Many had complained that the victims fund was too slow, and payments too small. Feinberg responded by grouping claims in categories, such as fishing and tourism, and the amount of claims paid nearly doubled. Now claims will not be ruled out just because they're coming from people and businesses not located on the coast itself.
