Beck Loves NPR

Originally published on Wed January 2, 2013 4:26 pm

Beck is known for experimenting with music on his albums, and now he's at it again. The artist has released a collection of new songs without recording any of them himself. Rather, he's published a book of sheet music titled Song Reader with the hope that other musicians will bring the songs to life.

In an interview on All Things Considered over the weekend, guest host Jacki Lyden spoke with Beck about Song Reader and some of the music inspired by the project, which he's collecting on a website for all to hear.

So as you're putting together a New Year's party playlist, consider these artists' interpretations of Song Reader pieces (including one from a band of NPR producers) and see him here, loving NPR.
