www.airnow.gov
The Environmental Protection Agency tracks ozone levels on airnow.gov. The agency warns that levels will be unhealthy for sensitive groups this afternoon.

An air quality alert is in effect today for much of the listening area. Ozone levels are forecast to rise to potentially unhealthy levels for sensitive groups. Officials say children and elderly adults should avoid prolonged outdoor activities.

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality has forecasted an Ozone Action Day for New Orleans and surrounding parishes through late evening.

Ozone is a pollutant that forms when gases from cars and industry reach sunlight. It can cause respiratory problems and congestion.
