90-year-old Marrero man believed heat victim

Jefferson Parish authorities say a 90-year-old Marrero man has been found dead in his home, possibly of heat stroke.

Jefferson Parish Councilman Mark Spears — a friend of the man's grandson — identifies him as Harold Nelson Cooper. He tells The Times-Picayune that Cooper was in good health.

Authorities say Cooper had no electricity in his home and reportedly had a body temperature of 110 degrees.

Jefferson Parish officials reiterated that residents should check on family, friends and neighbors, particularly the elderly and ill, as crews continue to work to restore electricity knocked out by Hurricane Isaac.
