The 2015 Louisiana Gubernatorial Runoff Survey Results Are In

2010 Great Seal of the State of Louisiana

The University of New Orleans has released the results of its 2015 Louisiana Gubernatorial Runoff Survey.

600 likely voters participated in a statewide poll that closed on November 8. These opinions show that currently the public opinion is far from positive. Two thirds of the voters expressed that Louisiana, generally speaking, is headed in the wrong direction.

This gets more specific when asked about the economy; half the people said that the state’s economy has worsened over the past year. This negative sentiment spread when it came to Louisiana’s leading public officials. Based on this poll, Governor Bobby Jindal has a 70 percent disapproval rating.

This may explain the 22 point lead John Bel Edwards currently has over David Vitter in the race for the next Governor. A quarter of Republicans reported that they plan to vote for the Democratic candidate, over Vitter.

The UNO Survey Research Center has collected information about public opinions on social, economic and political issues since 1985.
