20-Year-Old Justin Odom Sought In Connection With Bourbon Street Shooting

NOPD

The New Orleans Police Department has identified 20-year-old Justin Odom as a person of interest in last Sunday's shooting on Bourbon Street that injured 10 people.

Update: Brittany Thomas, a 21-year-old who had been in critical condition at Interim LSU Hospital since being struck Sunday, has died. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office says she was pronounced dead at 2:44 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2.

Police say Odom is currently wanted on unrelated warrants, and is known to associate with a while male named either "Josh" or "Joe", who is also a person of interest in the investigation.

“We’re going to continue to work around the clock to see that this investigation goes well and that we bring these individuals to justice,” Mayor Mitch Landrieu said in a press conference on Tuesday.

According to the NOPD, six of the ten victims were from out of state, including 21-year-old Amy Matthews, a victim from Australia who recounted the scene and her ordeal on Today Perth News:

Matthews had just completed her thesis on US gun laws, according to the television station.

NOPD detectives are requesting the public's assistance in obtaining photos and video of the incident: tips can be sent to NOPDTIPS@nola.gov or CRIMESTOPPERS at (504) 822-1111.
