Tam Eastley is from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She moved to Berlin almost four years ago and completed a Master's Degree at the Freie Universität Berlin in English Literature and Cultural Studies. Never content staying in one place, she recently cured a bout of wanderlust with a trip on the Trans-Siberian Railway

She is currently a freelance travel blogger and podcaster with Mädels with a Microphone, a monthly podcast series about the quirky side of Berlin. Her interests include biking, culture, literature, travel, and roller derby.

Berlin's 'Tropical Islands': Vacationing Inside A Dome

At Berlin's Tropical Islands, sandy beaches line the tropical sea, and a backdrop of a sky makes visitors forget they're inside a dome...almost.

Last year when I was on my way to Spreewald, I saw a sign on the side of the autobahn for Tropical Islands.

Ever since, I've been dying to go. When I bugged my friends to come with me and explained to them what it was, most would raise their eyebrow and give me an odd look.

But a few weeks ago, I finally went, and I just can't get the Tropical Islands out of my head.

Moviemento Kino Screens Film About Cambodia's Khmer Rouge

We Want (u) to Know has been screened over the last couple of years by NGO's and outreach programs, though only handful of times in Berlin theaters.

Sunday night, Moviemento Kino on Kottbusser Damm screened the film, We Want (u) to Know.

The film has only been shown a handful of times in Berlin theaters, which means if you want to see it, you have to keep your eyes open.
