When Wisconsin State Sen. Dale Schultz goes to the polls Tuesday, he will vote for GOP Gov. Scott Walker in the gubernatorial recall election.

"I'm a Republican," Schultz said during an interview in his Capitol office in Madison, on the eve of the state's historically acrimonious and expensive recall election.

But if the Democratic candidate, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, succeeds in ousting Walker, Schultz, 58, says, "I'm going to do everything I can to make him successful, too."

Demonstrations and contemplation were evident at the Wisconsin state Capitol on Monday.

Union members and supporters gathered at noon — as they have done since the original "occupation" of the rotunda in protest of the policies of Gov. Scott Walker. Others found in the building a place for quiet discussion.

The divisive recall contest in Wisconsin between GOP Gov. Scott Walker and his challenger, Milwaukee's Democratic Mayor Tom Barrett, has moved into its final hours with a deluge of advertisements and rallies to get out the vote Tuesday.

Walker, seeking to avoid becoming the third sitting governor in U.S. history ousted by a recall vote, on Monday planned to visit businesses in four cities, and wrap up the day with rallies in Green Bay and Milwaukee.
