Jason heads up WWNO's sports desk, is the point person for digital initiatives and social media outreach, and is a spot news and features reporter during major events.

Jason, a native of New York (but a long-time resident of the Crescent City), has an extensive background in traditional, digital and social media, and the intersections between them.

Orleans Criminal District Court closed through Wednesday

The Orleans Parish Criminal District court will be closed through Wednesday, August 29, the court said in a statement on its website.

However, Magistrate Court will open for proceedings at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Jurors scheduled to serve during the remainder of the month of August are excused from duty, the Court said.

Orleans Parish Civil District Court closed through Wednesday

Orleans Parish Civil District Court will be closed through Wednesday, August 29, the Court said in a statement on its website.

The closure includes the Civil Clerk of Court, First and Second City courts and clerks' offices, as well as the Civil Clerk of Court Mortgage, Conveyance and Archives offices.

St. Charles Parish schools to remain closed through Labor Day

St. Charles Parish public schools will remain closed until Tuesday, September 4, the parish announced today in a news release posted on its Facebook page.

All schools will remain closed during this time, and all athletic events, including those this weekend, are canceled.

Assumption Parish announces mandatory evacuation

Assumption Parish officials have announced a mandatory evacuation of the parish in advance of Hurricane Isaac's landfall.

The parish has reportedly banned the sale of alcohol, and has announced a curfew.

Assumption has also opened a shelter of last resort, at Belle Rose Middle School (7177 Highway 1). Officials say the school will be running off of generator power; however, all evacuees are required to bring all necessary items with them, including food, water, toiletries, bedding and medicines. No cots will be provided.

New Orleans City Park closed through Wednesday

New Orleans City Park announced it will be closed through Wednesday in anticipation of the arrival of Tropical Storm Isaac.

The shuttered attractions include Storyland, the Botanical Gardens, boat and bike rentals, the Parkview Café, the golf course and tennis center, and the NOLA City Bark dog park.
