Janet Wilson

Membership Manager/Volunteer Coordinator

Janet joined WWNO in March of 2011 as Membership Manager. In this role Janet is responsible for strengthening relations with WWNO’s members and encouraging listeners to support the station as members.  She organizes the station’s membership drives and other member events and activities, and is closely involved in communications and public outreach. Janet was most recently with the New Orleans Opera Association first as Development Manager, then Business Manager, and finally as Director of Marketing and Public Relations. As one of the organizers of the Culture Collision, Janet took the initiative to encourage the region’s cultural organizations to collaboratively promote themselves to new audiences.  In 2008 the Ad Club of New Orleans named her “Ad Person of the Year in Promotions.”   She has a BA in Communications from the University of Alabama, where she also studied photography and printmaking.

Ways to Connect

There are many reasons you listen to WWNO and we’d love to hear about them.

WWNO operates on a fiscal calendar that ends on June 30. While that date is finite, our efforts are not. We go on the air the very next day!  Our operating costs click over with the calendar and the stories continue despite any budgetary concerns and each sustaining membership is a nod to our continued success.

Become a sustainer today at any level and let us know why you listen in the comment section of the donation form.

Culture Collision 6 — the unique happy-hour hosted by WWNO — kicked off the 2014-15 cultural season with a brand-new venue: The National WWII Museum’s US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center on Wednesday, August 27.

This installment of the annual event brought together more than 60 of New Orleans’ nonprofit visual and performing arts organizations for a one-night-only event designed to encourage participation in the New Orleans art scene. Attendees scoped out upcoming performances, took advantage of exclusive ticket promotions and met like-minded arts lovers.

WWNO's HASH TAG/TAG LINE contest featuring all NEW buttons. These buttons will look great on you. Come and get one at Culture Collision 6 on August 27!

What makes you turn to 89.9? We want to know. AND we want you to share that reason in a tweet... in the form of a tag-line or a photo. Too hard? Not at all!

The Moth — our monthly storytelling series at Café Instanbul — was back this week, featuring stories ranging from the sweet to the absurd. The theme was “Love Hurts” and if these stories are any indication, boy, does it!

Each month at The Moth volunteer storytellers each take five minutes to tell a true story, and some of the best (as voted by the audience) are aired on WWNO here in New Orleans, or maybe even nationally on The Moth Radio Hour.

Your donation today is what makes the Membership Drive Kick-Off Hour a success. When you give to the Lagniappe Fund, you lead the way, encouraging other listeners to become new members of the station.  They hear your message loud and clear: Public radio is important.
