NOMA plans to reopen Tuesday

The New Orleans Museum of Art expects to reopen on Tuesday after a clean-up necessitated by Hurricane Isaac.

Museum director Susan Taylor tells The Times-Picayune that water seeped into the museum's administrative offices. However, except for the swampy basement, the museum suffered minimal damage from Isaac.

New Orleans Museum of Art to reopen Tuesday

The New Orleans Museum of Art will reopen Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Director Susan Taylor says the opening will be free of charge. Wednesdays are always free, thanks to the Helis Foundation, so Taylor says the museum will begin charging regular admission on Thursday.

Isaac seepage closes New Orleans Museum of Art

The New Orleans Museum of Art says it is closed because water from soil saturated by Hurricane Isaac is seeping into the basement, administrative offices and other areas.

Seepage into the basement of the century-old building was a major hurdle in its recovery from Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
