The 2014-15 New Orleans Pelicans extended season ended on Saturday night. Not with a bang, nor a whimper, but with a splash.

The Splash Brothers, that is. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson — the Golden State Warriors’ backcourt beasts — combined for 64 points in a 109-98 drubbing of the Pelicans here in New Orleans, taking the first round playoff series in four games.

The New Orleans Pelicans are on the verge of being eliminated from the NBA playoffs.

The Pelicans have yet to win a game in their postseason matchup with the Golden State Warriors. Last night the Pelicans lost 123-119 at home in the Smoothie King Center.

It was the Pelicans first home playoff game since 2011, when the then-Hornets lost in six games to the L.A. Lakers.

New Orleans led by 20 points entering the fourth quarter, but Golden State rallied, sending the game to overtime on a dramatic Stephen Curry 3-point shot with 2 seconds remaining in regulation.

The New Orleans Pelicans beat the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night in front of a sold out crowd in the Smoothie King Center, and are headed to the playoffs.

It’s been a rollercoaster year for the New Orleans Pelicans. The young team struggled with injuries and inconsistent play over a grueling 82-game regular season.

The Pelicans needed every one of those games. They were locked in a neck-and-neck struggle with the Oklahoma City Thunder. But now, for the first time since 2011, they are in the playoffs.

The New Orleans Pelicans score 115 points, snap Atlanta’s 19-game win streak

The New Orleans Pelicans pulled off an improbable and intensely entertaining 115-100 beatdown of the Atlanta Hawks Monday night at the Smoothie King Center.

Atlanta, who had come into the game on a 19-game winning streak (the 5th-longest in NBA history), seemed out of sorts from the midpoint of the first quarter, missing easy shots and struggling to contain an energized Pelicans team.

Local basketball fans have rooted for the Pelicans, the Hornets, and the Jazz, but did you ever root for the Buccaneers?

The Buccaneers were one of the original 11 teams in the American Basketball Association and New Orleans' first professional basketball team. People took notice of the ABA because of the flashy chances they took: they invented the Slam Dunk contest, had celebrity owners, and made open invitations for anyone to play on their teams.
