Super Bowl Power Outage Still Under Investigation

Officials in New Orleans had been warned in the months leading up to the Super Bowl there may be a power problem at the Superdome. Now they're investigating what that problem might have been.

Documents obtained by the Associated Press from the Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District, the state agency that owns the Superdome and runs it in conjunction with the private company SMG, show concerns were raised in October that connectors to utility lines were decayed. The LSED spent a half-million dollars on replacing feeder cables.

It’s still unclear what triggered the outage that stopped the Super Bowl for more than a half hour. Companies involved say an abnormality in the electrical feed triggered a breaker to cut power.

Officials are investigating just what that abnormality was.
