Chicago Bears 46, New England Patriots 10

Super Bowl Memories: SB XX
Super Bowl XX played out exactly how everyone expected. The Chicago Bears crushed the New England Patriots 46-10.
The Bears, coached by Hall of Famer Mike Ditka (who won Super Bowl VI in New Orleans as a player), finished the season with a 15-1 record and dominated almost every opponent they faced during the 1985 season, while the Patriots earned a wild card playoff berth and went on an improbable playoff run to reach the Big Game.
The 1985 Bears’ defense was perhaps the greatest defensive squad in the history of organized football, and they were too much for the Cinderella Patriots in the Louisiana Superdome on January 25, 1986.
New England found itself with a gift-wrapped 3-0 lead after Chicago Hall of Fame running back Walter Payton fumbled on the game’s first series, but Chicago turned on the light switch after that and scored 44 unanswered points to handily vanquish New England’s Super Bowl dreams.
Chicago defensive end Richard Dent earned MVP honors with two forced fumbles, but another Bears’ defender stole the spotlight with the game’s most memorable play. Defensive tackle William “Refrigerator” Perry, who stood 6’2” tall and weighed 335 pounds, lined up at fullback late in the third quarter and demolished everyone in his path for a one-yard touchdown run.
Notes: Bears Head Coach Mike Ditka came out of retirement to coach the New Orleans Saints in 1997. He did not win any Super Bowls during his three seasons in New Orleans.
