Fred Kasten

Fred is an independent contributing radio producer/host at WWNO. After working at WWNO for over 20 years as an on-air talent, producer and program director, Fred retired from full-time work in May of 2007. Fred is a native of Mobile, Alabama, a graduate of the University of Alabama, and a long-time resident of New Orleans.

In addition to his work at WWNO, Fred develops independent audio projects from a home studio, producing radio features, commercials and podcasts. Fred also does marketing and media consulting for the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.

New Orleans Artist George Dureau Dead At 83

Artist George Dureau

George Dureau is widely acclaimed as one of New Orleans' most significant artists in the latter part of the 20th century and early 21st. He died Monday after a several-year struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Dureau was 83, and internationally recognized for his classically-inspired, mythology-infused paintings — and his humane photographs of some often very odd (think dwarfs and multiple amputees) male figures.

Dureau spoke with artist Jacqueline Bishop in 2005 for her WWNO series "Louisiana Artist".
